Size Does Matter

Ultra slate is a “lightweight” roofing product that can be as low as 12.065Kg/m sq. that can be used to replace any kind of roof including metal sheeted roofs on trusses not designed for “heavyweight” tiles. Thus the saving potential is in the transport (82m sq. / ton) and the timber or lightweight steel structure.

Each tile measures a nominal 12 inches (304mm) wide by 18 inches (457mm) high, with 11 -12 inches of the tile becoming the underlay (most important part of the tile for the roof) and 6-7 inches of the tile will be the reveal (most important part of the aesthetics) The reveal part of the tiles ends up with a ½” spacing between the edges so that it gives you a nice clean but exaggerated gap between the tiles without compromising the waterproofing.

Why do we uses Inches and mm on the tiles ?

The inches relate to the tile dimensions and the millimetres relate to the centre to centre distances as will be measured by local roofing contractors for the batten spacing. This also allows people of various educations to be able to understand the measurements without converting imperial to metric or vice versa and allows us to supply the tile around the globe. This is also intended to prevent mistakes and unnecessary waste.
